Deep into the Jungle - Deep into yourself

Welcome to the magical jungle of Tulum – a spiritual and cultural sanctuary. This is a place of myth and mystery, and the ultimate location for wellness-seekers to unplug from modern-day life and reconnect with nature.

Your home base will be Naum Jungle Retreat; a stylish, off-grid villa, replete with its very own private cenote. After a seamless check-in process, unwind in the tranquillity of your room where every detail is designed to reflect the charm and peace of the tranquil natural surroundings.

Once you’ve settled in we invite you to join us for welcome drinks, then dinner followed by a brief introduction and some light yoga under the starlit sky of the Mexican Riviera.

Morning yoga

Wake up to the sounds of nature in one of Naum’s carefully curated bedrooms.

Start off your day in a calm and positive way with a 60-minute yoga practice suited for all levels. Tap into the mind-body connection and stretch while connecting deeply with nature in the depth of the sacred, secluded cenote.

Coming from an ancient Mayan word, a cenote is a natural sinkhole filled by rain and water flowing from underground rivers through the limestone rocks. The Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico has more than 6,000 cenotes and is the most extensive underground river system in the world.

This practice is not merely physical; it’s designed to awaken your consciousness, aligning your body and mind to the rhythm of your breath, preparing you for the transformative
experiences ahead.

Awaken consciousness and breathwork

The foundation of your healing journey starts here. Learn how to start creating a practice of consciousness to trigger a spiritual awakening. Use your senses and your breath to get out of your head and into your body.

Learn to use breathwork to calm yourself and bring your mind to the present moment. This mindful practice is designed to help you reconnect with your subconscious shadow self, understand personal trauma, and lay the foundations for a calmer, more mindful way of life.

Art & Mandala meditation workshops

These art workshops expand your vibration through creativity and meditation. In this session you will have the opportunity to explore the power of intention and experience new forms of mindfulness through coloring as an active meditation. The workshop will begin by inviting you to tap into your second chakra and your creative potential with practices designed to support you in getting centred, focusing your intention and clearing your conscious mind. The final session culminates with an art collaboration.

Yin yoga

Yin yoga is a practice of meditation through movement and breathing. Inspired by traditional
Chinese medicine, it is a very static and restorative style that works on the meridians of the
body, using the asanas to open and invigorate these energy channels. We hold the poses for a longer time, using our breath to stay present and receptive to emotions and feelings that arise with them. It’s a profound practice that will allow you to connect with your body, reduce tension, expand your flexibility and relax your mind.

Journaling under the stars

Relax and reflect on the moon deck with a practice that will help you get out of autopilot and help remedy negative daily habits that may keep you stuck in your past, often repeating it. Journaling helps us to find sense and meaning. It generates peace, calm and equanimity. Writing gives us clarity, helps us to observe ourselves and is ultimately deeply therapeutic.

We will use a notebook and spend some time personalising and decorating our journals, finally creating a small ceremony in which we congratulate ourselves for making these decisions.

Temazcal

Temazcal is an ancient type of sweat lodge used for purification and healing ceremonies originating from the indigenous cultures of Mesoamerica. Starting around the fire pit, we thank the earth and nature for everything they provide us. Following the ceremony of gratitude we enter a dome-like sweat lodge where hot volcanic rocks are placed in the centre where water is poured over them, producing steam. Aromatic herbs and copal resin are used to aid the cleansing process for body and soul.

This is a traditional Mayan mindfulness session of re-birth and self-reflection that helps you reunite with the world with a clarity of vision and an inner peace.

Food heals

Our retreat is as much about nourishing the soul as nourishing the body. A vegan diet centered around plant-based foods can aid physical and mental well-being.

Ahimsa; one of the foundational principles of yoga, emphasises non-violence and compassion towards all living beings. A vegan diet is consistent with this principle as it avoids animal harm and suffering, promoting a more compassionate lifestyle.

Vegan food benefits include feeling lighter, more energised, and experiencing improved digestion, which can in turn enhance the benefits of yoga practice.

Accommodation:

Miriam Castillo

For the past 13 years yoga has been a huge part of my life. Almost immediately I realised the positive impact it had on both my body and mind. For me, yoga would soon become a way to live life through a new lens.

Living in New York for 15 years, gave me the opportunity to explore many different yoga styles and schools, meet some amazing teachers and be a part of an inspiring yoga community. In 2012, I ventured on a trip to India to dive deeper into this amazing practice. Since then, it has become a journey of self-discovery, using yoga to empower the mind, body and spirit.

I am now based in the Riviera Maya where I am grateful to be able to practise closer to nature and be surrounded by many like-minded people. I’m currently focussed on ways to help you become more present physically within Yin Yoga and connect with your creativity via active meditations. I am passionate about art and illustration and hope to have the opportunity to awaken your creative expression through art and meditation. I would love to share my creative processes with you and take you on a journey of self-discovery and spirituality.

Registered with Yoga Alliance at 200 hr level in Rishikesh Yog Peeth, India and later in 2015 300 hr level at Zuna Yoga in Bali.
